Don’t carry the world upon your shoulders

Through the performance “Don’t Carry the World Upon Your Shoulders”, we continue to explore the practice of translation, this time focusing on the problem of overthinking.
Starting with translating the very term and searching for an appropriate equivalent in the Croatian language, we proceed to seek a translation for the concept (and state) of movement alternately falling into and avoiding the trap of overthinking that follows us throughout the process.

Although our research begins with translating the most famous fictional overthinker, Hamlet (thus continuing the translations of Shakespeare begun in the performance il sonetto), we gradually move away from him in order to delve into our own overthinking, both personal and professional and its elasticity between two extremes: paralysis and superpower.
By choosing the format of a performative lecture, we create space for a (popular) scientific approach to the term and state of overthinking, but also a space for self-reflection; a space to poetically explore overthinking through movement.
